The terms described below (hereinafter “Data Protection Policy”) apply to all areas of commercial activity of Decathlon Sports Switzerland SA (hereinafter “Decathlon”, “we” and “us”). Our Data Protection Policy provides information about the data processing undertaken if you provide your personal data when you purchase a product in store or when you visit our website www.decathlon.ch and/or use the online services provided (see section I below). Our Data Protection Policy also details the storage of data through the use of cookies and third-party data storage (see sections II and III below).
If you provide your personal data when making an in-store purchase, after reading this document, or if you visit our website and/or use the services provided, you agree to this Data Protection Policy.
The Data Protection Policy may be subject to changes. It is accessible at any time in our stores and on our website www.decathlon.ch (hereinafter the “Site”). This current version of the Data Protection Policy supersedes any other version and any other contradictory document. You may print it or download it in PDF format so that you can refer to it later.
The personal data you provide at the time of purchase in store or by using the online services on our Site, specifically your user account, is processed by Decathlon. In addition, some data, mainly of a technical type, is automatically stored when you visit our Site and/or use our online services.
You have no obligation to provide your personal data to buy a product in a store. However, you are free to give us your details if you wish to be contacted directly in the event of a product recall.
To order a product from our Site, you must have a “MyDecathlon” account (hereinafter “MyDecathlon account”). To create this, you must provide an email address, create a password, provide some personal data (such as your first and last names, your favourite store, a full address in Switzerland and a phone number) and accept our General Terms and Conditions of Sale.
When making an in-store purchase, you are free to give your email address if you wish to be contacted directly in the event of a product recall. If you give us your email address, a personal identification code will be sent to this address. Subsequently, Decathlon will store the purchased products and their location of purchase when you provide this code at the cash desk. If we recall a product that you have purchased, we will contact you via email.
If you provide us with a phone number as well as an email address, this number will be stored in our database in order that we may contact you by phone in the event of a product recall.
When you create a MyDecathlon account on our Site, we are required to collect and store the following personal data:
Email address
Last name, first name
Favourite store
Full address in Switzerland (Street, Postcode, City)
Phone number
Agreement to the General Terms and Conditions of Sale
Information about newsletter subscription
Consent to receive advertising
We also collect and store the following data about you, if provided by you:
Gender
Favourite sport
If the account is a professional one, we are also required to collect and store the following personal data:
Company name
VAT number
IDE or Company Registration Number
We additionally collect and store some other information related to the MyDecathlon account (including its creation date and user name) as well as information about your purchases (including time and date of purchase, type, quantity and value of the products bought, shopping cart, shopping cart abandonment and purchase history).
Whether you use our online services or not, we collect and store certain data each time you access our Site, specifically the anonymised IP address of the connected device as well as the time and date when the server was contacted. Also see sections II and III below.
If you provide your email address and/or phone number at the time of purchase, this address and/or number, along with the information about the purchase made (collected via your activated identification code), will be used to contact you in the event of a product recall.
Your personal data collected via your MyDecathlon account is processed by computer, allowing the management of your orders and your user account. This data also allows us to contact you directly in the event of a product recall. Additionally, if you are in agreement, Decathlon may send you personalised offers related to your interests.
Data collected by Decathlon through the use of your MyDecathlon account or by visiting our Site is processed for marketing purposes provided that the related cookies are enabled (see section II below). For details about third-party data collection, see section III below.
Data collected by Decathlon may also be used by companies within the Decathlon Group for statistical analysis and quality control purposes by customer services. For more details about personal data collection by Decathlon, refer to the section “What personal data is collected by Decathlon?” above.
Furthermore, if payment is not made, your personal data may be communicated to debt recovery agencies.

In order to comply with the laws and regulations in force, we may also transmit your personal data at the request of courts or by order of the competent authorities, or as otherwise required by law.
We take every precaution to maintain the security of your personal data, for example, to prevent its disclosure to unauthorised third parties. For this reason, we implement all necessary security measures on our computer devices. When your personal data is outsourced within the Decathlon Group, we ensure that these entities apply technical and organisational measures that meet the required standards.
Your personal data is stored in other countries by other Decathlon Group entities. Decathlon ensures that the transfer of your personal data complies with the legal framework: transfer to a country that ensures an adequate level of protection in its legislation, or accompanied by sufficient guarantees, including contractual ones, to ensure an adequate level of protection.

We guarantee access to your personal data during the period that it is kept. You are free to request the deletion of your personal data at any time.

Your personal data is retained appropriately to ensure compliance with the laws in force or as long as it meets a need in terms of the purposes for which it was collected. We will erase your personal data as soon as it no longer serves its original purpose and, except for any legal obligation, at the end 3 years of inactivity.

Decathlon.ch may use Facebook social network plug-ins, operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (hereinafter “Facebook”). When you request access to a page on our Site containing such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection with the Facebook servers. The content of the plugins is sent directly to your browser by Facebook and inserted into the site’s page.
