The BR Longridge Bridle is a snaffle bridle in supple English leather with a U-shaped crank noseband and an extra wide, softly padded Anatomic Fit headpiece. It is aimed at riders who care about how the noseband sits on the nasal bone and about even pressure distribution behind the ears.
About this bridle
Where most bridles have a straight noseband, the Longridge stands out with its U shape. The noseband curves downwards and therefore follows the line of the nasal bone instead of running straight across it. That gives a quiet fit and, at the same time, a recognisable, elegant line.
At the back, that noseband closes with a crank fastening. On a crank noseband the strap runs back through loops, so the tension is spread over a larger part of the closure instead of pulling on one point. Worth knowing: that is not an invitation to do it up tighter. You adjust it like any noseband, with two fingers of room.
The headpiece is BR's Anatomic Fit model in the wider K type. Wide and softly padded means the weight of the bridle is carried over a larger area behind the ears. A narrow, hard headpiece concentrates that same weight on a strip of a few centimetres; a wide model spreads it out.
The noseband is generously padded, fitted with a soft chin pad and fully adjustable. Underneath the buckles and D-rings sit protective flaps: small leather inserts that stop metal or a buckle tongue from touching the head. It is a detail you only notice when it is missing.
The leather is supple English leather, which makes the bridle pleasant in the hand straight away and lets it sit neatly around the head. Reins are not included; you choose those separately.
