How is the waterproofing level of the trousers measured?
We measure the resistance of a fabric to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on JIS 1092B standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. These trousers have a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm (Schmerbers) and effectively protect their user from four hours of rain.
How is the breathability of the component measured?
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape and the higher the fabric's breathability. As a rule of thumb: RET < 9 = highly breathable fabric 9 < RET < 12 = breathable fabric RET > 12 = low breathability The fabric of these trousers has a RET of 15.
What are the features of the FR900 ski trousers?

How many pockets do these freeride ski trousers have?
Two secure pockets on the thighs with waterproof zips, including one with a mesh pocket for a mobile phone. A large front pocket that can hold an AVD.
Do the FR900 ski trousers offer good freedom of movement?
These trousers are designed from 2 components, which guarantee resistance to wear without sacrificing freedom of movement. The stretch component on the stomach provides excellent fluidity while reducing wear on the waist (under-garment, elastic, snow skirt, etc.) The preformed knees help you move freely.
What is the RECCO® system?
All of our cross-country ski jackets and trousers are equipped with the RECCO® system. With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Thanks to RECCO® reflectors, a person buried in the snow can be located quickly and accurately using the RECCO® detector. RECCO® reflectors are not a substitute for an AVD. The RECCO® technology works as a complementary measure, increasing the chances of being found in time.
What is fabric water repellency?
Water repellency is the ability to allow water to slide off the surface of the fabric without being absorbed. This means that the fabric does not soak up water, and therefore remains lightweight, breathable and warm. Water repellency is achieved by applying a treatment to the outer surface of the fabric, which must be renewed from time to time (every three washes) to ensure it remains effective. All of our Freeride ski jackets have a water-repellent treatment without fluoride.
What is a membrane or coated component?
The coating is akin to a paint applied inside the fabric that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. Less costly than a membrane, it requires a lining to protect it. The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is more flexible, lighter, more durable and often more breathable than a coating.
What should you wear under your ski trousers?
To keep warm and dry in the event of intense cold, wear a ski base layer that is comfortable and breathable. Our FR900 base layer trousers are perfect for keeping in warmth.
How to look after your FR900 ski pants?
Machine-wash the trousers at 30°C after having closed the zips. Use a liquid detergent and no fabric softener.
How do you reactivate the trousers’ water-repellency?
With each wash, renew the fabric’s water-repellent properties using a suitable treatment. A complete range of products specifically designed for the maintenance of waterproof and breathable fabrics is available in all of our Decathlon shops. This will maximise your garment’s performance for as long as you use it.
