Recommended Use
The BEAL Rando 8 mm is intended for securing during alpine hiking, glacier crossings, snowy passages, and ski touring. It primarily serves as a safety rope during movement in mixed terrain rather than for belaying long falls.
Construction and Treatment
The rope is treated with Golden Dry, a water-repellent coating that limits water absorption and preserves mechanical characteristics in wet conditions, increasing durability and safety.
Technical Characteristics
With a diameter of 8 mm and a weight of 37 g/m, the Rando has an impact force of 4.2 kN (on a core) and withstands 5 UIAA falls on a single core. Specifications are indicated on one of the two cores as it is intended for twin use.
Variants and Length
This model is offered in several lengths including 20 m, 30 m, and 48 m. The 48 m version has pre-marked attachment points along the rope for easy knots and belays.
Safety and Usage Recommendations
For lead climbing or significant falls, it is necessary to use two strands (twin use) in accordance with UIAA certifications. Regularly check the condition of the sheath and markings before each outing.
