Fabric breathability
The JIS L 1099 B1 test measures the water vapour that passes through the fabric in 24h, in grams per sqm. The higher this value is, the more breathable the fabric. A performance rating of 5,000 g/m²/24 hr, with breathability, makes it suitable for occasional hiking.
How to maintain the waterproof property of your over-trousers over time.
To maintain a durable water-repellent fabric, we recommend reactivating it regularly. Do this every three washes (it is important to rinse abundantly) or after a dozen uses in the rain. You can easily reactivate the water repellent property by warming the fabric: - with your tumble dryer for 15 minutes (synthetic programme); - with a hair dryer at a distance of 20 cm, going back and forth twice; - or twice over with an iron on a delicate setting without the steam function.

To protect the upper part of your body as well, and to have a very efficient complete outfit against the wind and rain showers, we recommend the men’s Raincut 1/2 zip or full zip jackets.
Water resistance of the fabric
The waterproofing of a fabric by a coating or a membrane is measured in Schmerbers or mm H2O (pressure of a water column). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket is designed with a waterproof coating (JIS 1092 standard): this component resists 5,000mm H2O (Schmerbers) before washing (equivalent to the pressure exerted by a 5m column of water).
Your health is our top priority
The fabric of this jacket is water repellent: it lets water slide over its surface without seeping in. In this way, the fabric doesn’t soak up water and stays light and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. We have started to use a water repellent treatment without perfluorocarbons.
Choosing your waterproof overtrousers according to your level of physical effort
During sports activity, the extent to which we perspire depends on the intensity or the duration of the physical effort If the fabric's breathability isn't suited to the type of activity/exercise your perspiration will condense inside jacket. You will feel damp inside this is not rain coming through but perspiration vapour condensing You need to choose over-trousers in line with your activity type. This product is designed for 2-hour hikes at no more than 5km/h.
