In our Quechua testing design centre at Passy, at the foot of Mont Blanc in Haute-Savoie, our products are tested out in the field in real-life conditions alongside our laboratory tests.
Durability test
We carry out tests on the following aspects: eyelet and strap tearing, gluing strength, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion resistance of the outsole and upper components, and accelerated ageing. These tests help us enhance product quality and reduce the risk of premature wear.
Waterproof test
In the Quechua laboratory, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Then the shoe is immersed in water on a mechanical arm that flexes to simulate walking. This can determine the time and number of kilometres that the shoe can stay dry. These boots are waterproof for 2 hours of hiking.
