The Grigri incorporates an assisted locking cam mechanism that pivots and pinches the rope in case of a fall or rest, enhancing safety and reducing the effort needed to stop the climber. The system offers great tolerance regarding the hand position on the braking side, increasing reliability during varied uses.
The ergonomic handle with 3:1 ratio allows for gradual control of rope feed and facilitates unlocking even on small diameters. Result: very smooth descents and great comfort for the belayer.
Designed for dynamic single ropes 8.5 to 11 mm (optimized 8.9–10.5 mm), the Grigri is suitable for indoor and outdoor climbing and is ideal for experienced belayers looking for a versatile device for lead and top rope.
The side plates are made of aluminum, the cam and brake pad are made of stainless steel, and the handle is made of reinforced nylon, offering an excellent balance between lightness, durability, and strength.
The Grigri features a rope installation diagram engraved on the device (inside and outside) to facilitate correct and safe use. It meets relevant safety standards (CE EN 15151-1, UIAA, UKCA).
