In the Wild Country range, the Revo is such a device. It features intuitive operation, an effective rope locking assistant, and a design that allows for a very smooth rope release. The Revo from Wild Country has a compact design. A major advantage of this device is its symmetrical design. With the Revo, the tedious task of clipping the rope is eliminated. No matter how you attach the rope, the locking mechanism works. Using this device requires two standards. Never release the rope behind the device. Despite the locking system, this is not permitted by the manufacturer. Additionally, always check before each lead climb that the device is functioning correctly. Give it a strong tug and check if the rope locks in place. The Revo uses a self-lubricating bearing made of brass and aluminum. The mechanism locks in when the rope speed exceeds 4 meters per second. Once the device is locked, the rope can be released in three simple ways: 1) by loading the cam with the free end of the rope; 2) by removing the locking mechanism with a finger; and 3) by fully rotating the mechanism in the opposite direction when the rope is not under load. The mechanism used in the Revo has another advantage. It allows for a very smooth release of the rope to the climbing partner. It is likely the smoothest functioning device of its kind. It is also considered one of the safest devices, as the simple clipping of the wrong rope has been excluded from the design. The Wild Country Revo can be used with single ropes ranging from 8.5 mm to 11 mm in diameter. It is particularly recommended for sport climbing. For beginner climbers, it is an excellent choice that guarantees more safety at the start of their climbing adventure. Despite its robust appearance, the device is lightweight.
