The new Shimano Ultegra R8000 rear derailleur is inspired by his older brother, the Dura-Ace R9100.It benefits from the Direct Mount Shimano fixation, offering a set stiffer derailleur/frame for an improved gear shifting while minimizing the risk of damage of the frame in case of an accident.Just like Dura-Ace R9100, the Ultegra R8000 integrates the Shadow RD Technology, which places the derailleur's body under the cassette. It aims at protecting the derailleur in case of falls or of projections, but also at keeping it for the same distance of the cassette, whatever is the used pine cog.The R8000 rear derailleur is proposed in short and medium cage . The short version allows the installation of cassettes sets of teeth going of 11-25 to 11-30. The medium version goes it to authorize sets of teeth going of 11-28 to the new 11-34 for the most difficult climbs.
