How is the waterproof rating of the jacket measured?
We measure the resistance of a fabric to water pressure expressed in mm of water column (test based on JIS 1092B standard). The higher the pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket has a waterproof rating of 20,000 mm and effectively protects its user from 4 hours of rain.
How is the breathability of the jacket measured?
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity can escape and the higher the fabric's breathability. As a rule of thumb: RET < 9 = highly breathable fabric 9 < RET < 12 = breathable fabric RET > 12 = low breathability In this case, the fabric of this jacket has a RET of 15.
What are the features of the 3D hood?
Compatible with a helmet, the pre-shaped hood is designed to follow the movements of your head without getting in the way. Its easy-to-use 3D tightening system allows you to adjust it in a single movement. The high collar provides good protection for the face against the cold and wind, and the zip flap is micro-perforated to make the material more breathable.
What are the features of the sleeves?
The adjustable sleeves are wide enough to go over the gloves and protect you from the snow while keeping you warm and dry. Their elastane material ensures a perfect seal between the gloves and jackets.
Does the FR900 ski jacket have good ventilation?
Staying dry is essential for enjoying powdery snow, but it is important to avoid sweat build-up to prevent you from getting cold. The jacket has two large zipped vents under the arms for ventilation and to prevent overheating.

What is the RECCO® system?
All of our freeride ski trousers are equipped with the RECCO® system. With RECCO® technology, you can be located in the event of an avalanche. Thanks to the RECCO® reflectors, a buried person can quickly and easily be located with the RECCO® detector. RECCO® reflectors are not a substitute for an AVD. The RECCO® technology works as a complementary measure, increasing the chances of being found in time.
What is the cut of the FR900 freeride ski jacket?

What should you wear under your skiing jacket?
To stay warm and dry, follow the 3-layer rule (a breathable first layer, a warm second layer and a protective third layer). This jacket can be worn as a third layer to protect you from bad weather. For extra warmth, wear a warm layer underneath, like a padded jacket or a fleece.
How can I prevent snow from getting in when I fall?
The snow skirt at the waist prevents snow from getting in when you fall. It can be attached to your trousers using three loops with press studs.
What is fabric water repellency?
Water repellency is the ability to allow water to slide off the surface of the fabric without being absorbed. This means that the fabric does not soak up water, and therefore remains lightweight, breathable and warm. Water repellency is achieved by applying a treatment to the outer surface of the fabric, which must be renewed from time to time (every three washes) to ensure it remains effective. All Simond jackets have a fluorine-free water repellent treatment.
What is a membrane or coated component?
The coating is akin to a paint applied inside the fabric that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. Less costly than a membrane, it requires a lining to protect it. The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is more flexible, lighter, more durable and often more breathable than a coating.
Can this product be repaired?
This waterproof jacket can be repaired: - In the event of a snag, apply a patch suitable for waterproof surfaces - A broken runner can be changed in just a few minutes. - The puller can be replaced quickly.
How to look after your waterproof jacket
Machine wash the trousers at 30°C after closing the zips. Use a liquid detergent and do not use fabric softener. You can use a water-repellent spray once your jacket is completely dry.
