The Aheadset was developed in the 1990s to meet the new demands of mountain biking. Assembly and maintenance are facilitated by the absence of threads, the pivot is now smooth. The bearings are always outside the head tube and the stem helps to adjust the headset. This is the most popular standard today, and it also allows the use of particularly rigid tapered fork steerers.
