The Hayabusa S4 boxing gloves are designed for bag work, pads and technical drills. The injection-moulded foam on the knuckle zone absorbs impacts uniformly with each strike, without hardness variations depending on the contact angle. The aerated mesh palm evacuates heat during long sessions. Wrist support relies on a layer of splinted foam padding integrated into the cuff, which keeps the wrist in alignment during straight strikes. The single wide velcro strap adjusts with one hand between rounds. The ultra-smooth nylon inner lining stays cool against the skin and does not retain heat. The microfiber thumb is attached and positioned along an ergonomic axis, with a "wipe away" surface for removing sweat from the face without removing the glove. The S4 is the entry-level Hayabusa glove, the T3 is the intermediate/advanced model. Both have an ergonomic attached microfiber thumb, but the technologies differ on three points: the T3 uses the Dual-X system (2 interlocking straps + 4 Fusion Splinting rails) versus a single strap and a splinted foam layer on the S4; the T3's multi-layer Deltra-EG padding versus the S4's injection-moulded foam; and the T3's temperature-regulating AG Fabric lining versus the S4's smooth nylon. For daily bag and pad use with a controlled budget, the S4 is well suited. For regular sparring and long sessions, the T3 provides more support and absorption. Can the S4 be used for sparring? The S4 is designed for bag work, pads and technical drills. Its injection-moulded foam padding and single strap are sized for solo training and partner drills without heavy contact. For regular sparring with exchanges, T3 gloves or a dedicated sparring glove will provide more protection for both wearer and partner. The S4 suits light technical sparring from 14-16 oz. How to choose between 10, 12, 14 and 16 oz? 10 oz suits fitness classes and light bag work up to around 60 kg. 12 oz is the versatile size for most practitioners between 60 and 75 kg. 14 oz covers bag, pads and light technical sparring from 75 kg. 16 oz is recommended for body weights above 80 kg or for light sparring sessions where partner protection is the priority. Are the S4 gloves suitable for Muay Thai? Yes, the S4 suits Muay Thai for beginners and intermediates working on bag, pads and technical drills. Its single strap and splinted foam cuff provide less wrist support than a Muay Thai-specific glove in intensive clinch, but for upright stand-up work, combinations and pad sessions, the S4 provides adequate protection. For Muay Thai with heavy clinch and elbow work, a short-cuff Muay Thai-specific glove is more appropriate. How to maintain the Hayabusa S4 gloves? After each session, air the gloves out without leaving them in a closed bag. Wipe the PU exterior and interior with a damp cloth or antibacterial sport spray. The mesh palm can be rinsed with lukewarm water and air-dried. Never machine-wash or expose to a direct heat source. PU synthetic leather requires no leather conditioner.
