The Shelter Wheel Kit consists of 35 washers that fit perfectly onto the valve stem, adhering to its base. Minimal in size and weight, they produce an elegant and almost invisible silence, eliminating unwanted valve movement and vibration. The resealable bag ensures that unused washers retain their properties when needed for subsequent applications. Once the Shelter washers are applied to the rim, the valve can be removed and reinserted without losing the silence. This is just one application of our Shelter Wheel Kit, but there are many others. No one would drive a fast car with wheels that haven't been carefully balanced after tire mounting. Today's high-performance bicycle wheels, with their ceramic bearings and lightweight carbon rims, cannot perform at their best if they are not properly balanced. This is an easy task requiring only a Shelter Wheel Kit, a wheel balancer (or an upside-down bike...), patience, and a few minutes per wheel. The transmission of vibrational energy through any structure can be reduced by introducing viscoelastic materials at discrete points. This is precisely what Shelter does, helping to reduce vibrations on very stiff wheels. This is an added benefit when balancing a wheel with Shelter washers.
