It also features the advanced MGL spool for improved casting performance. If you're an angler who prefers light weight, you like the unique feel that only magnesium-bodied reels offer, or casting performance for all lure weights, then the new Metanium is well worth the price. Although lightweight, the Core Solid frame is remarkably solid and safe in use, giving you the impression that this reel can take on any challenge. That said, the MGL III spool and infinity SVS braking technology really come into their own with medium and light lures, where the low force required to spin the spool can be fully appreciated. The Metanium is undoubtedly a top-of-the-range reel and makes full use of the latest technology and lightweight metal construction of Shimano's Magnumlite series. Internally, the top-of-the-range Micromodule gear and X-SHIP ensure great fluidity and power when pressurized. And casting is enhanced by the use of the latest MGL III spool, which requires only a breath of force to turn it. Perfect for a wide range of lines and lure weights, the Metanium gives you the versatility to use finesse lures, while having the strength to fish with larger lures and cast it as far as possible.
