The Edelrid Nineteen G carabiner serves progression and belaying. It forms part of a complete belay chain, with a matching rope and device, and is never used on its own. The weight stays low on the harness. The wiregate does not ice up. The light alloy carries the stated load.
The wiregate reduces inertia on opening. It is retired as soon as a crack, a deformation or play at the gate appears. The markings on the body state the loads allowed along the three axes.
