This Weymouth and Bradoon set is specifically designed to be used on double bridles that are often worn for show or dressage (elementary and higher level). The set includes a single jointed free ring bradoon that allows more movement than a fixed cheek bit and is ideal for horses that tend to lean and stand still. The Single Joint Bradoon has a nutcracker action that works on the mouth bars and lips. The Weymouth has a straight mouthpiece that offers a more consistent action and works on the tongue and mouth bars; the orifice allows more room for the tongue. The Weymouth exerts some pressure on the mouth and, used in conjunction with the curb chain, exerts pressure on the grooves of the mouth. The Weymouth is also used to refine aids and to encourage a horse to sit on its hocks to make more advanced movements. This set requires two reins, one attaching to the Bradoon bit and the other to the Weymouth bit. A curb chain is included and can be used with a lip strap (not included) to keep the curb chain flat. Note: Double bridles should be used by experienced cavaliers and are designed for horses that already do well with a snaffle. Measurements According to our size guide, the A and B measurements for this bit are as follows: Weymouth 4.5' to 6' - A=14mm & B=125mm Bradoon 4.5' to 6' - A=14mm & B=55mm. Please note that the C-measurement of this end cap will be 1/4' larger than that shown in our size guide. This is typical of a bradon thread. Stainless Steel Horse Bits... Stainless steel is the most commonly used material for horse bits because it is durable, easy to clean and does not rust. Stainless steel bits are suitable for a wide range of horses and are available in many designs so you can choose the right bit for your horse and discipline. Pair your Weymouth bit set with one of our anatomical bridles. For health and hygiene reasons, this bit cannot be returned if it is removed from the model. Technical details
