It can be easily put on the horse and adjusted around the shoulder and girth to achieve an ideal fit. The neck straps of this martingale are connected by leather forming what is called a 'bib', which helps to hold the rider's reins together and prevent the horse from reaching back and grabbing the neck straps. Why use a bib martingale? A bib martingale works the same way as a traditional martingale. The addition of a bib allows the reins to be brought together and prevents the horse from catching the neck strap in its mouth. It can be used to prevent a horse from lifting its head above a point where it can be controlled. When the horse lifts its head too high, the martingale provides leverage on the bit through the reins, encouraging the horse to lower its head. Choose from our range of bridles and reins to match your bib martingale. Technical details
