Nearly fifty years ago, Tom Ritchey, his mentor Jobst Brandt, and a group of like-minded friends spent countless hours of adventure riding the remote trails, broken asphalt, and rough gravel roads that wind through mountain bikes in and around Butano State Park in Northern California. Tom still rides these trails and roads today, and this topography, along with the pioneering rides that took place there, is the inspiration behind the Butano handlebar.
This unique handlebar has proven highly sought after by legions of gravel and road riders since its introduction a few years ago. Its wide drop flare gives adventurous riders a greater level of control and confidence compared to more traditional drop handlebars, while its low drop and short reach provide welcome comfort for long days on rough terrain.
Updated for 2021, the new Butano builds on its original comfort by adding new features such as internal cable routing and a welcoming ergo-aero top section for improved hand support. The drop flare of the new Butano has also been widened to 18° for increased comfort and control.
The new Butano handlebar was born from Tom's legendary adventures in the remote mountains of California and offers the features you need for your own endless explorations and relentless journeys.
