An adventurous mix of trail, rutted road, and patched tarmac follows Gazos Creek as it winds through the dense forest, rolling topography, and isolated challenges of Big Basin Redwoods State Park in California. A local microbrewery is conveniently located at the terminus of these roads and trails, where Gazos Creek Road meets California Highway 1. It was on this breathtaking network of trails, and countless others in these California mountains, that Tom Ritchey, his mentor Jobst Brandt, and a small group of adventurous friends spent countless days exploring its gravel surfaces, winding turns, endless climbs, and perilous descents more than 40 years ago.
The new WCS Gazos Handlebar Tape is named in homage to the spirit of Tom's pioneering rides on these rugged roads and trails so many years ago. Measuring 230 cm, the Gazos handlebar tape provides ample coverage for modern gravel handlebars, such as the Ritchey VentureMax XL and Beacon XL, which tend to be much wider than traditional road handlebars.
