With a capacity of 13 liters, this size is perfectly suited for compressing a summer sleeping bag, a set of spare clothes, or your thick fleece vests and jackets. By squeezing the air out of these soft items, you reduce the volume to just one-third of the original size. This creates space for other essentials like food and hydration, while keeping your backpack more compact and stable on your back.
The ease of use of this sack is designed to prevent trail-side frustrations. While straps on traditional compression sacks often get tangled, Sea to Summit has solved this with a clever 'flip-top' lid that is attached to the sack. This ensures the straps stay neatly in place, allowing you to pack quickly and in an organized manner. The sack features four compression straps that provide even pressure distribution, keeping the sack perfectly round so it slides easily into the corners of your pack. Thanks to the sturdy nylon handle on the round base, you always have a secure grab point to pull the sack out of a tightly packed bag.
Technically, the Lightweight Compression Sack is made from high-quality 70D recycled nylon. This material is known for its excellent strength-to-weight ratio; the sack weighs only 112 grams but can withstand significant compression forces. The fabric itself is treated with a C0 PFC-free DWR finish and has a PU coating with a hydrostatic head of 2,000 mm. This means the sack offers excellent protection against moisture inside your pack, although due to the non-taped seams, it is not suitable for full submersion. A handy detail is the white interior coating that reflects light, making it easy to see what is inside the sack even in a dark tent or at twilight.
